What if You Miss Your Qiyam, Can You Pay Back - Get Answer
The Answer
The answer is simple, if you have missed your Qiyam at night, due to any reason, you can surely re-offer Qiyamullail or pay back. As Islam is a religion of mercy upon mankind, Islam teaches the blessed way to repertory or pays back your missed Qiyamul lail in certain ways.
The Method of Paying Back Missed Qiyamullail
In case you have missed your Qiyamul lail, by accidentally oversleeping, you can pay back Qiyamullail during the day time, before noon. However, you can only pray it in even number of Raka’ahs. It isn’t permissible to offer missed night prayer in odd numbers of Raka’ahs.
However, you can re-perform your missed Qiyam at day light after you woke up, but remember not to pray your missed (Qazaa) Qiyamullail after noon. As there is a hadith narrated by Sayyidatuna Aisha R.A authenticated by Imam Muslim in which She R.A said and confirmed it as,
“If Rasulullah s.a.w. missed his Tahajjud, due to indisposition or the like, he would perform twelve Raka’ahs during the daytime.â€
However, you cannot pray it as witr because witr can only be prayed at night on at day light. In another Hadeeth, narrated by Sayyiduna Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, reported by Imam Muslim Prophet Muhammad SAWW said,
“If anyone falls asleep and therefore fails to observe his Hizb (Night prayer) or part of it, if he observes it between the Fajr and the Zuhr prayers, it will be recorded for him as though he had observed it during the night.â€
Thus, if you have intention of praying or offering Qiyamullail, but failed to do so due to any reason like accidentally oversleeping, you can still a chance to have a similar sawab of Qiyamullail if after waking up, you offer Qiyamullail in even numbers of Raka’ahs after fajr prayer and before noon i.e. before Zuhr prayer.
