How To Become A Muslim? 7 Steps To Become a Muslim & Convert To Islam
How To Become A Muslim - A new Muslim convert or someone thinking about how to become Muslim is often concerned with the main question of how to become a Muslim? People embrace Islam for various reasons, whatever the cause maybe; some life changing experience, a good Muslim friend, someone searching for truth or the influence of Quran on them could be the reason for change. One aspect is very common in every situation; these people were never satisfied with the answers and rituals of their religions. They all agree upon the completeness of Islam and declare it as the code of life.
When it comes to religion and spirituality, many people have this idea and impression that religion is an exclusive experience. You have to pass through some great trials almost like the story of Hercules, where you have to go and do all of the deeds and acts and pass through all the trials before you are worthy of standing in front of God Himself. The Muslim prayer or Salah provides an equal opportunity to everyone to stand before Allah. It is an unbiased, unrestricted, non prejudiced open-invitation to every single person, it doesn't matter who you are, where you're coming from, or what you've been through. No matter how down in the dumps you may be right now, everybody has an equal opportunity to engage in and experience a one-on-one conversation with God Almighty Himself.
Here are some easy steps to become a Muslim:
-
One needs to be convinced in their heart that Islam is the true religion, that Allah Almighty is capable of doing just anything at all; He is the owner of His 99 attributes. Also, Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h) is the last messenger.
-
It is important that one does proper study of Islam before making the decision.
-
It is narrated on the authority of Amir al-Mu'minin (Leader of the Believers), Abu Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), say: "Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended. Whoever migrates with an intention for Allah and His messenger, the migration will be for the sake of Allah and his Messenger. And whoever migrates for worldly gain or to marry a woman, and then his migration will be for the sake of whatever he migrated for." (Related by Bukhari & Muslim)
-
Ideally, one must perform Wudu and state one's declaration i.e: “Laa ilaaha illal Lahoo Mohammadur Rasool Ullah†meaning “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad (p.b.u.h) is His Last Apostleâ€. When a person declares this statement they should really mean it by all means. In Islam Allah is One, Supreme, Gracious, Merciful, Master and much more. God is the ultimate power, knowledge, and who does not possess any humanly attributes like getting tired, getting sleepy, having kids, having wives or vica versa. We must realize the meaning of “Allah O Akbar†which in itself is a great testimony. Allah is Superlative and when we utter Allah O Akbar, it means we realize the grandeur, magnanimity and the endless powers, knowledge and Lordship of Allah.
-
After declaring faith, the newly convert's sins would be washed away. They will emerge as pious and clean as a baby, sinless.
-
One must visit the nearest Mosque to learn more about the faith and to be a part of a new bloodless brotherhood. Make new Muslim friends and do good deeds together.
-
It is also important to learn and truly believe in all the articles and pillars of faith.
Which are as following
a). Believe in Oneness of Allah
b). Believe in Angels
c). Believe in Books
d). Believe in Prophets
e). Believe in Divine Decree and Pre-destination
f). Believe in Day of Judgment
The pillars include taking Shahadah, offering Salah, giving Zakat, observing fast in the month of Ramadan and performing Hajj once in a life time if one could afford the journey. The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said on the occasion of Last Sermon:
“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion†(5:3)
